Rachel Truelove PLLC
Welcome
Healing is possible, no matter how challenging or overwhelming the situation may seem. Every individual deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and reclaim their life, and I am here to help guide you on that journey and listen to your story.
Supporting Clients Through Addiction and Mental Health Challenges
I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families facing addiction and mental health challenges, and I am consistently inspired by their resilience, strength, and unique qualities. Whether you’re struggling with substance use, mental health concerns, or the effects of trauma, you deserve a compassionate and understanding environment where you can begin to heal.
Experience That Matters
With extensive experience in a variety of clinical settings, including residential treatment for women with young children and pregnant women, I am skilled at addressing a wide range of issues—from addiction and perinatal mental health to post-partum depression and parenting struggles. I’ve also had the honor of providing supervision and support to other therapists and healthcare professionals, helping them manage the emotional toll of their work, including burnout and compassion fatigue.
Compassionate Support for Professionals and Caregivers
I understand that those in caregiving roles—whether you’re a therapist, healthcare worker, educator, law enforcement officer, first responder, or family caretaker—often face emotional challenges as well. I offer specialized support to help you navigate compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma, empowering you to continue the work you’re passionate about while maintaining your own well-being.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach to therapy is eclectic, strengths-based, and client-centered. I firmly believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you in discovering the answers within yourself. I draw on a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Attachment Theory, to help you develop the skills and insights needed to make meaningful change in your life.
Philosophy on Addiction
Addiction is a complex, brain-based disease that affects decision-making and behavior. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may find yourself caught in a cycle that feels impossible to break, even if you want to stop. I take a holistic approach, recognizing that addiction is also a family disease, and I offer support not only to those struggling with substance use, but also to their families. Family members play a key role in both the challenges and healing process, and everyone deserves the opportunity to process their experiences in a safe, supportive space.
Harm Reduction and Recovery
I believe that the path to healing and recovery is unique for each person. Whether your goal is complete abstinence, moderation, or simply understanding the role that substances play in your life, I support you in whatever path you choose. I am knowledgeable in 12-step programs and other recovery models, and my priority is to help you find the approach that works best for you.
Credentials & Background
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Texas State University, an Associate’s Degree in Addiction Counseling from San Antonio College, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the state of Texas.
